Father's Day at Poppy Steve's

Every Father's Day we go out to Dad's house at Yorktown, about 10 minutes past Beaconsfield. The kids love going to visit Poppy Steve because he has heaps of land that they can run around in. Dad has these huge weeping willows which Sarra reckons fairies live under. At this time of year Dad's paddocks are emblazoned with daffodils so Sarra and Emily love to pick them and take to the fairies.

Even though it was cold and rainy, we had a great day. Rohan brought along his football and Dad had the barbecue blazing away. In the back corner of Dad's land he has built a summer house. He has it set up with tables and chairs, a fridge and the barbecue. It is a great spot and is so peaceful listening to the birdlife and looking out over the hillside covered in trees and bushes. It is so lovely and quiet with no traffic or other noise to distract you - except for the kids.

For dessert I made the mudcake we learned how to make last Thursday at our Enrichment activity. it did not taste quite as nice as Kit's but practice makes perfect. I left Dad this huge slab of it that should see him through the week.
