Easter 2015

Last weekend we had a lovely few days over Easter. Even though Simon and I both worked, we got to slip in some family time between shifts. When I got home from work on Saturday morning, Easter Bunny had been to visit and Jonty and Flynn were really excited to see the eggs all over the yard as we pulled in the driveway.

We ate lots over the weekend, starting with a great potluck dinner at the Websters on Thursday night. One of our favourite missionaries, Sister Adams (Katelyn) was visiting from the USA after finishing her mission last September and we were all very excited to catch up with her. She was at our house for Christmas breakfast 2013.

On Good Friday we had our traditional Easter breakfast with the missionaries, Elder Wilson and Elder Nicholson.

On Sunday I was asked to give a talk at church. I had completed it on Thursday and we were going to watch a movie on Saturday night while Simon was at work so I said to the kids I would just print out my talk and be right there.  When I went to print the talk, it was not there, It was like I had never written it. I spent an hour ranting over google and trying to retrieve word files from guest users on the Mac but then decided that I would just need to start again. By this time Hallie had shooed everyone to bed telling them that "Mum is really cross so don't go into the office". At 11.30 pm I finally finished my talk and then the printer decided it didn't want to work. It did in the end though and I went o bed very relieved.

On Sunday after church, my Dad came for a visit with my sister and her family but we spent so much time yakking out in the beautiful sun on the deck, noone took any photos. Dad left about 4 pm and then we had a nice sliver side roast for tea and a cheesecake for dessert, which was also to celebrate Emily's 18th birthday on the 30th of March. Simon was at work but was able to pop in for a bite to eat toward the end of the night. Looking at this pic, I know I really need to put something on the walls. :)

Hallie's Nitro Circus Live - dream birthday

As most people are aware, Hallie is a HUGE motorbike fanatic! It doesn't help that she seems to have it in her blood and has a natural talent for riding motorbikes, scooters, push bikes - anything really.

2010

2011
2012

I think she was born dreaming of her first bike. Ever since we bought two little second-hand 50cc bikes off Gumtree many years ago she has taken to it like a duck to water.

2013

2014

Since then she has graduated to a 100cc and loves to go out riding any chance she can get. Late last year I noticed that Nitro Circus was coming to Hobart. Not just a watered down version but their proper BIG show with Travis Pastrana (Travis Pastrana is an American motorsports competitor and stunt performer who has won championships and X Games gold medals in several events, including supercross, motocross, freestyle motocross, and rally racing.) and everyone involved in the show.

I looked at tickets and decided that Hallie would love to go for her 12th birthday which is in April. I knew that because she was such a fan of Travis and follows them all on IG that, it wouldn't be worth all that drive down to Hobart and build-up to the day without good seats, so I saved up and got her a VIP ticket which meant best seats in the house, going to the practice session before the show, a special lanyard, opportunity to speak to the crew and have something signed by them and a free signed poster.
We mentioned it to Hallie's church friends, Gus and Ben and their Mums said if they saved up they could go to. It was a LONG wait for them all as I booked the tickets back on the 14th of November and the show was not until the 28th of March. Simon took them down and he said the weather at Blundstone Arena was perfect. Simon has always had a motorbike since he was young and I knew that he would get a great kick out of seeing all the stunts.

Being directed to their VIP seats.

The big man himself!! Travis Pastrana. The practice session went for 1.5 hours before the actual show started.

Here is Travis signing Hallie's motorbike helmet. Her dream come true. Simon was texting me and I was texting back - "tell Hallie to get a selfie with Trav".

Hallie, Gus and Ben lined up along the fence to get the opportunity to have a pic and autograph with their favourites.

Jolene Van Vugt  (the first CMRC Women’s Canadian Motocross National Champion, first female to backflip a full-sized dirt bike).

And then along came Travis!!

The main show got started after that and I don't know what is going to top Hallie's birthday after this as she said she was in heaven. I've never seen her so excited before.
