After heading off to the gym this morning (it was a bit boring because neither Bonnie or Lisa were there to chat too in between weight changes), we went to the Housing Industry Association exhibition at the Silverdome. It was a whole heap of sites to do with building and home renovations. It was good to take a look around and see ideas and new concepts that are coming out of the building industry. They had stalls ranging from floor heating, tapware, gardening, paints, laminates and new storage concepts for kitchens, timbers, bricks - anything really to do with building a home or renovating an existing one.
Our dream is to one day build our own so we are compiling a scrapbook of ideas and concepts we would like to use for our own home. Last year we finished building two units here in Westbury which we sold in March and now have just bought a block in Youngtown opposite Youngtown Primary School to put a house on. It has been a great learning curve and I always say, 'it is never a mistake if you learn something from it'. Mistakes are not wasted that way. Each time we do these projects we learn a bit more about the building industry and the things we like that we would include in our home and we also get a great insight into things that wouldn't be so good or are not quite practical for a family with three rambunctious children.
On our way out the kids found the free jumping castle so somehow I think more time was spent there than looking around at the stalls.
