school Christmas Pageant

Last Friday our school held its annual Christmas Pageant. It is actually organised by three different churches in Westbury who combine together to bring it to fruition. Our school hosts the event and the participation by the children make it all possible.

Because the weather was nice and fair, we were able to start with the parade through the streets.

We stood outside Ashlee's house to watch it go by and take photos as it wound its way towards the school.

And who should be leading the parade but Simon. Jonty was very happy and surprised to see Daddy in the police car.

Oliver had been asked to be Joseph along with Molli as Mary.

I nearly didn't recognise Sarra at first but there she was as an Aussie Santa.

As the parade went through the streets, it would stop at certain houses along the way.

Mary and Joseph would knock and the owner, dressed in costume also would answer and say, "sorry there is no room here" and would direct them to walk a few more streets.

Once we got to the school, we all filed inot the hall to watch the rest of the pageant.

Each class did a performance along with the junior band. Hallie is loving the junior band as she has graduated from a cornet to a trumpet now her arms and fingers are long enough.

Oliver's class did an Aussie version of the 12 days of Christmas. It was really funny. All I can remember is "5 crocodiles" "3 lorikeets" and "a bell bird in a flame tree".

Hallie's class sang 'Deck the Halls'.

And Sarra's class did Christmas medley with half the songs about Aussie Christmases and the other half serious hymns.

At the end of the pageant, we had a BBQ and cake and icy poles outside. It was a great way to end such a lovely morning. A perfect balance of Christmas spirit and Christmas fun for the children and spectators alike.

How awesome is that!! That is so cool that they do the traditional Christmas story. So many schools shy away from it now because they don't want to offend anyone, but that's the reason we have Christmas in the first place.
Awesome photos once again! You are getting good! :)
