Emma's baby shower

Yesterday afternoon the kids and I went to Emma's baby shower. I have never been to a shower where the guest has actually had the baby. I did go to our neighbour Katherine's baby shower where here waters broke at the party and she had Gabriel the next day but Meisha had decided to make her appearance early.

It made it easy for all those who were yest to get a present and were undecided if lemon and green were still unisex colours in this day and age.

The party guests

Ashlee, Emma's sister-in-law was hosting the party and she had some great games ready. One of them was a race to see who could skull their bottles the quickest. It was hilarious. By the end it was a close race between Lorraine and Phyllis with Phyllis winning by a whisker.

We also had pin the dummy on the baby, guessing how many jelly babies in the jar and tasting different baby foods and guessing what they were - now that was yuk. I don't know how babies can like that stuff.

It was a great afternoon and Kit (amazing as usual) had cooked up a storm for us all to enjoy. It was good that Emma was able to come out of the hospital and spend some time outside its four walls.

I remember when I was in for 3 wks after Hallie was born and then a week in the Royal Children's in Melbourne and sometimes you felt you were going crazy not being able to go outside and the world passing you by. So it was nice that the neo-natal nurses gave her a break and took care of Meisha's feeds for her.

Emma got heaps of great presents - that's why these showers are so good. It's like a second Christmas. Now she can have fun deciding where everything is going to go.

The joke of the day was when Emma was opening the presents and according to baby myths and legends, the 7th present that is opened has a curse attached to it. Whoever gives the 7th present that is opened is the next person to have a baby. Curse I say because I was the giver of the 7th present opened. Everyone laughed and ribbed me. My reply was "give me a bit more of Kit's scrumptious food and I'll show you what 3mths along looks like".

I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is required to get setup? I'm assuming having a blog like yours
would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very internet savvy so I'm not 100% positive. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
